Main Characteristics
The European Association of Personality Psychology (EAPP) is a non-profit association of people with a university degree (or equivalent) who are involved in the development of empirical and/or theoretical personality psychology by way of research and/or authorship of books, scientific articles, and other published materials. The president of the association is currently Prof. Frosso Motti-Stefanidi, University of Athens, Greece.
Goals
The purpose of the EAPP is the promotion and development of empirical and theoretical knowledge in the area of personality psychology within Europe and the interchange of information relating to this subject between members of the EAPP and related associations throughout the world.
The EAPP pursues the following activities:
- organization of meetings and conferences
- promotion of mutual scientific communication and research cooperation between members, and between members and other scientists
- publication of manuscripts
- co-operation with other associations and institutions within and outside Europe
ECP Conferences
The EAPP organizes biennial conferences consisting of symposia addressing various topics of interest to the Association, paper presentations, poster-sessions, invited lectures, and other forms of exchange that may be fruitful to the progress of personality psychology. At each conference, agreements are reached about the location and the organizational responsibilities for future conferences.
Journal
The European Journal of Personality is the official journal of the European Association of Personality Psychology, which is published by John Wiley & Sons. The Journal promotes the development of empirical and theoretical personality psychology within Europe and elsewhere, by reporting and reviewing original research, theoretical issues, methodological advances, and current experience. The Journal aims at reflecting all areas of current personality psychology.
The Journal emphasizes: (1) human individuality as manifested in cognitive processes, emotional and motivational functioning, and their physiological and genetic underpinnings, and personal ways of interacting with the environment; (2) individual differences in personality structure and dynamics; (3) studies of intelligence and interindividual differences in cognitive functioning; and (4) development of personality differences as revealed by cross-sectional and longitudinal studies.
The journal is currently edited by Prof. Marco Perugini, Università di Milano Bicocca, Italy (period of office: 2009-2012).

Membership
Applicants for membership of the EAPP can submit an application form by downloading the PDF form or using the online version http://www.eapp.org/application/. Membership is open to those who are involved in the development of personality psychology. Applicants should name two EAPP members who are willing to provide a recommendation letter in support of their application.
Applicants without two EAPP members who can recommend them have to include a short CV. They will be contacted after their application has been received. Application letters should be sent to the Secretary of the EAPP.
